24 Hour ECG Recording

EKG test

Also known as a Holter monitor or an ambulatory ECG. This involves using a portable ECG device to record the heart rhythm over a 24 hour or 48 hour period. This can help to capture symptoms of palpitations that occur occasionally, but not necessarily all the time. It may show up an abnormal heart rhythm that needs treatment or equally, it may reassure a patient that there is nothing sinister occurring at the time of symptoms. The sticky electrodes will be tape to the skin and attached to a portable ECG device which is usually worn on a belt around your waist. You will usually need to wear this for a period of 24 hours (sometimes 48 hours) and return to have it removed the following day.
