Cardiac Event Recorder

If your symptoms are even more infrequent and occur only occasionally, an event recorder is sometimes used to capture arrhythmias at the time of symptoms. This may be a portable device given to a patient for a period of say, 1 month, in order to capture a rhythm strip at the time of symptoms; the device is held against the chest at the time of symptoms. However, it may also be required to have an ‘implantable’ device for a longer period to capture infrequent problems or for instance, if a person loses consciousness during attacks. This devices can then be ‘interrogated’ and any unusual events or arrhythmias can be downloaded and analysed.
